Mobile phone cameras have really improved over the last couple of years and can produce some great images, especially for posting online where image resolution is less of an issue. Follow these 7 tips to improve your photos of friends and family on your mobile phone.
1. GET AN APP
There are plenty of mobile camera apps out there, but make sure you choose one that gives you the option to change both the focus and the exposure.
Use your phones’ option to display grid lines. These divide the screen into thirds both horizontally and vertically. This will help you to get your subject in the best position.
3. CHECK THE RESOLUTION
Set the resolution and picture quality settings on high.
4. HOLD THE PHONE WITH BOTH HANDS
This will help to prevent any excess shake and blurring.
5. DON’T JUST STAND THERE!
Take more than one shot, from different angles, stand closer, move further away. You can always delete the images you don’t want at a later date. Some smart phones have a burst mode that takes photos as fast as 10 frames per second. Don’t be afraid to use this option.
6. FOCUS ON THE EYES
The eyes capture the attention of the viewer. Try to focus on this area when you take your shot.
7. NEVER USE THE DIGITAL ZOOM
This will end up with a loss of detail. It is better to move closer to your subject. Or just crop the photo when you come to edit it.
Keep these in mind next time you take out your smart phone to capture the moment and you will see the improvement in your photos . . . as long as your mobile has a decent camera!
